The Empty Spice Jar

Somehow, I've developed a love/hate relationship with the spice jar. Why? Because they are so darned cute! See, I love glassware, clear glassware, clear glassware with lids, clear logo-free reusable glassware with lids.... get where I'm going? I've discovered that Private Selection spice jars are perfect for reusing- soak in a little hot, soapy water and the labels come right off. Perfect clear glass bottle, perfect solid black screw-on lid, even has the little plastic perforated spice cap for sprinkling- but what to do with them? Perfect for reuse- I have a set, and I've started collecting them. But why? Don't tell, but I even have a collection of the white plastic ones with the red screw-on caps. lol I know I'll find a use for them soon, soon...

Reusing Plastic Grocery Bags

We all have them, and they seem to multiply. Here are some cool ways to use them up and SAVE $ on some other expenses!

(1) Seasoning Meat: don't waste your expensive plastic wrap OR dirty up a cutting board. Lay out a few grocery bags, place your meat (or veggies) on top and season away! Remember to place the pieces close together so as to not to waste a bit of your precious seasoning. If you do happen to miss and get seasoning on the bag, no worries- run your meat over it and get it!

(2) Cutting Board Cover: on those days you're extra rushed, lay out three or four bags on your cutting board, and BAM- no need to wash the cutting board afterwards!

(3)  Storage Bags: this one's a little more obvious, but it works just the same. Save the expensive zipper bags for the "important" stuff, and triple up those leftover grocery bags to store your seasoned meat in the fridge to cook tomorrow.

(4) Trash-in-Trash Bags: I know- what? You know how the packaging from meat stinks in the trash after a day or so, expecially in the summer? Double up the bags, and tie up the leftover wrapping and tray (and any paper towels you use with it) before tossing them in the trash can. Problem solved! Pssst... this works for any stinky stuff. You're welcome! :)

(5) Giant Twist Ties: Try it, it works!
